Challenges and opportunities
Digital signatures ensure the authenticity of documents exchanged through the Internet and enterprise networks. Because they validate the signer’s identity and integrity of the information, they can also be used for secure electronic transactions that are legally binding and non-reputable. |

Gemalto smart card devices together with our middleware or Microsoft’s
PKI infrastructure are used for digital signatures. The document is
signed by the author’s smart card device using a digital certificate
that binds a public key with a secure identity credential. The signature
is validated through a chain back to a trusted Certificate Authority
server.
