Protecting the mobile address book
SyncML,
O3SIS’s address book management application, is now available on the App
Store. The SyncML Client allows Deutsche Telekom subscribers with iPhones to
protect their address book through simple back-up and synchronization with
the Deutsche Telekom address book on the O3SIS secure server. Once their
data has been stored, they can access it via a user-friendly web interface
and manage all their contact details in one place.

Uganda
m-payments come to Uganda
MTN
Uganda has chosen Gemalto as the technology partner for its
mobile
payment (m-payment) program. Gemalto has provided a comprehensive
solution that includes the server for connecting the operator with its
banking service provider and the SIM cards that store and execute the m-payment
application. The program provides a secure, convenient and affordable
means for MTN Uganda subscribers to carry out peer-to-peer fund
transfers using their cellphone, whether or not they have a bank account.
It also makes m-payment accessible to users who don’t have Internet
access.

A 4G partnership
Verizon
Wireless has selected Gemalto to provide an over-the-air platform
and Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) for the industry’s first
Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband network. The platform and
circuit card will help Verizon to deliver a secure and reliable
multimedia data connection, provide global roaming and remotely add new
UICC card applications and services on its 4G LTE wireless broadband
network.

Wireless is a winner
Canadian
cable TV and cable telephony company Videotron has selected
Gemalto’s 3G SIM card solution to provide secure connectivity for
wireless phone and data services on its High Speed Packet Access
(HSPA) network. Videotron
successfully bid for new spectrum last year and is now planning
significant growth in its wireless business. Implementing HSPA has
considerable advantages for its customer base; Gemalto’s 3G SIM will
make it easier for Videotron’s customers to use their subscription
across HSPA devices.

Windows Live
Messenger from their SIM card, regardless of what kind of cellphone
they own, as a result of the successful implementation of Microsoft’s
Instant Messenger service built into Gemalto’s SIM cards. Twelve million
Personal subscribers can now use Windows Live to chat on their
cellphones, or even cellphone to PC. This adaptation of the popular
Microsoft product has all the same features as on a PC - and because the
service is housed on the SIM, subscribers can access the service any
time, anywhere, from any mobile device.
